Water Sports

The West Coast is the elected spot for the water sports lovers.

Though recent, kitesurfing has become very popular in the Óbidos Lagoon estuary. Both the Bom Sucesso and Foz do Arelho beaches are very popular, with the spot open from September 15th to June 15th.

The natural beauty of the Lagoon, calm with shallow waters (2 m maximum), also meets the conditions to practise stand up paddle..

With perfect waves, suitable for surfers of all levels, this is par excellence the region of surfing competitions. surf.

Santa Cruz, Supertubos (Peniche), Ericeira, Nazaré - the Western waves are a great attraction in this region.

Golf

Along the Western Coast - from Óbidos to Peniche - you can find the most diverse golf courses, with excellent conditions to play it. From mild weather to green fields, with inclined greens and deep bunkers, you can find the ideal conditions to play it. Regardless of your level, the Western golf courses are ready for you. Come and play your favourite hobby in a breathtaking landscape.
The diversity of cultural offer along with the magnificent scenery and the well preserved rural life make the visitor wish to return.
For these and many other reasons, the West presents itself more and more like a modern and promising golf destination.

Hiking

Hiking or walking tours, also known as pedestrianism, is an outdoor leisure activity and a way of fighting the urban life stress. As it is practised in nature, walks offer an interaction which stimulates the observation of the environment, leading to a better knowledge of the natural values, such as fauna, flora and the contact with local people, which should contribute to promote its respect through awareness and environmental education of the walkers. Óbidos offers various routes for hiking and cycling that you should cover if you enjoy outdoor activities. Some of the most interesting ones are: Várzea da Rainha, Rota dos Patos Reais, Rota do Ninho da Cegonha, among others.
